The new @username system
Discord replaced the old username + discriminator format (like name#1234) with a single unique @username. That means every account on the platform has exactly one public handle, and no two accounts can share it. Because names are now a single, visible, unique string, short and word-based handles became far more valuable.
What you actually buy
When you buy a username on a marketplace, you are buying the entire Discord account that carries that handle — not a "rename token". That is why every BuyUsernames listing includes:
- Full access to the account email
- The original (OG) email
- Outlook access
- An account that has never been used before
- No bans and no badges
After transfer, you change the password and take full control of the handle.
How the transfer works safely
Never hand over payment before verifying the account. On BuyUsernames the process is simple:
- Contact the seller on Discord and say which username you want.
- Agree on the payment method. A middleman can hold the payment until you confirm the account.
- You send payment and receive the account credentials.
- Change the email and password, and the username is yours.
Changing your username vs buying an existing one
Every Discord user can change their own username, but changing it does not give you a taken name. The rarest handles — 4-characters, meaningful words — left the available pool long ago. Buying an account is the only realistic way to obtain one.
